A Morning Date....
Since I found out about my stress reactions, I wasn't going to do this race. The main reason I did it was because Telos wouldn't rollover my registration or give me a refund and I didn't want to throw $50 out the window. Dumb Telos!
Since I didn't train at all this past week and my hubby was doing the race, I went into it was a "this is going to be fun" attitude.
We picked up our babysitter at 7:00am and headed to the Orem Rec Center. We got our race numbers, timing chips, and body marking. Because we got there so early, we got front row in the transition area. The man and woman parked on either side of us won. We won't be doing that again...we aren't in that crowd yet!
We both forgot water bottles, so Tim ran to Albertsons and got some. It would have been a long bike and run without water.
The weather was perfect! I quickly lost Tim during the run. I thought he was right behind me. But I had my eyes on the girl in the pink shirt. She had a "30" on her calf and was in my age group. She got a little ahead of me during the run, but I transitioned faster than her, so we got on the bike at the same time. We battled back and forth up and down the hills. But she got me on the last hill.....my legs were on FIRE! Next time pink-shirt girl!
One thing about this race, I felt like I could never catch my breath. Maybe it was because I hadn't run all week. But I was sucking wind!
I really HATE swimming. When I jumped in the pool, I was still breathing hard from the bike and my legs felt like lead. I kept thinking to myself, "6 more laps...5 more laps...etc". The last time I had been in the pool was my last triathlon in November. I actually swam faster this time. Maybe training is over-rated :)
When I got out of the pool, I sat by the wall hoping I wouldn't die. Then I saw Tim swim to the finish. He was having an off day and I was really lucky I beat him. Next time I won't be so lucky!
I'm pleased with the results given the situation. I probably tacked on a week to my recovery.
Run: 25:30(ohhhhh....that is SO SLOW)
T1: 1:01
Bike:33:59
T2: 1:06
Swim: 10:31
Total: 1:12:09

Privacy...(and a little spring break)
So this cute muffin got the hammer dropped on her. A new big girl bed and POTTY TRAINING! Though we've tried to throw those diapers away a few times, we've never had a "W" on the scoreboard.
But this time Mom was ready to stick to her guns and get this job done. We made a "SUPER SPECIAL" potty chart, complete with Dora stickers, and a BIG bag of jelly beans. After 4 potty successes, a major prize was awarded (bowling, Mcdonalds and the motherload of a prize "a night at a hotel"). Shoot, I would have taken her to Disneyland.
But she was still really struggling. UNTIL one day, I had to leave her in the potty alone to answer the phone and BINGO - a potty success. I finally realized this sweetie needed her privacy. I guess it was a bit too much to have 3 siblings in your face while your trying to take care of business.
Ever since this big discovery, we have been on the road to success and reap all her rewards.
We went bowling one morning:
I'll post the rest of our spring break and potty reward pictures as soon as we are finished enjoying them!

Finally...a big girl bed
This cute muffin is the designated baby of the family.
It helps that she IS the youngest. And has 3 older siblings who wait on her hand and foot.
I mean...why grow up?
But it is time.
Mom is putting her foot down (and is sick of changing diapers).
So first, we started with a big girl bed.
We even took down the bed rail....not one falling out incident yet! We told her that big girls stay in their bed and don't come out.
So every morning, she hollers, "Mommy, I'm awake" and I get her out. It works wonderfully!
During spring break, we are throwing away all the diapers. Wish us luck!

This Week......
Here are a few things I don't want forget about this week.
1. Peachy took a field trip to Cabela's and Mom and Dad got to be helpers. She was over the moon excited to have both parents and we were over the moon to be with her.
2. Abby got invited to have a play date with a friend (who happens to be a boy) from her class. She worried all week about wearing a skirt, wanting her hair curled, and her nails polished. We didn't have enough time to get super fancy, but she did look really cute. Good thing I know this little boys mom and they are just friends.
3. The big girls had their first "late night" at a school friends house (we don't do sleepovers). So they wore their jammies, ate way too many treats, and watched "Tangled". Then I picked them up and they went to bed in their own room. It sure was fun to see all these cuties from their class!
4. We planted our early spring garden yesterday. It gives me goose bumps when I think about our garden. The big girls were great helpers - they wrote veggie names on all the sticks, put the seeds in holes, and looked for worms. Then today snowed today (they definitely got a good watering).
5. At the grocery store yesterday, we got a really good parking spot (very rare for a Saturday) and Abby promptly declared, "Sweet cheeks, we got front row joe parking". She always makes me laugh.

My Boy
This little handsome LOVES a big breakfast. Every night before he goes to bed, he always asks me what is for breakfast. Is it French toast, waffles, pancakes, breakfast burritos? He loves brinner too (breakfast for dinner). This boy craves breakfast foods.
Sadly enough, we don't have a big breakfast everyday. And those are sad, sad days!
