Made By Mom (XIV)

I'm trying to catch up in all my blogging!  The very best part of Easter is making my girls Easter dresses.  Going into fabric stores for me is like a kid going into a candy store.  All these pictures are jelly bean bribes.

Hunt #2 and Spring Break

The foot of snow we received last week (during spring break) has put a damper in my blogging.  Snow is so unmotivating in the middle of April.

Hunt #2

The Easter Bunny leaves a massive scavenger hunt at our house.  He leaves clues and the kids run from room to room finding their prizes.  Tim and I decided that Easter was so much fun this year.  There was hardly any stress and the kids were over the moon with excitement (but not crazy like Christmas).  It was wonderful!

Spring Break

Despite the foot of snow we received (or the rain every other day of the week), it was a good spring break.  We had a "friend party" and invited all our friends over to play.  We went to the Children's Museum and ended the week with a trip to the art museum to see the "I spy" exhibit.  We got our garden tilled (after all the snow melted) and all the early veggies planted (Carter found his first worm and held onto it all afternoon).

But I'm glad to have everyone back to school!

Hunt #1

Our Easter weekend started and ended with a bang!  Here are a few of the highlights:

1.  Georgia found Abby's candy filled eggs from her school party and helped herself (with many pieces of candy, it was wrapper and all).  Abby was NOT SO thrilled to share.

2.  Bunny pops (visit Bakerella's blog to see what they are suppose to look like).  The kids and I had a great time making them until it was time to eat them.  The expressions in the pictures say enough.

4.  The great egg hunt at Aunt Jane's house.  Everyone ran fast and furious and caught oodles of eggs (most of the contents are now in the trash).  Even Georgia caught the hang of it.

The bunny scavenger hunt will be posted tomorrow.

Buzz

My kids were well over due to get their hair cut.  We had our good, patient, friend come to our house to create "non-white trash" looking kids.  Carter decided he wanted to get a buzz cut (it was all his idea).  His hair had grown quite long, so it was shock to see him go from all to nothing.  But he sure is a cutie!

Catastrophic Levels

Have you ever had a day where you want to stick your children on the side of the road with a “please take me” sign?  Am I a bad mom for even thinking such thoughts?  Duh… of course I am.

We have reached catastrophic levels of cabin fever (between the snow and rain, we have been in the house for days) and my patience tank is on E.  All the activities that I have hidden away for “just the right moment” have been used.  Any tricks up my sleeves have been played.

I know these are the moments for “digging deep” to be that great mom with the reservoir of patience.  But I feel like I am barely treading on water.  If Abby picks up Georgia one more time – poof, she is out to the road with a sign.  If Carter looks at Abby again – poof, side of the road buddy.  If Annie leaves markers out again and Georgia eats them (they are non-toxic) or colors on herself or the table again – poof, side of the road sister.

My house is an utter disaster.  I can never seem to keep up on the various tornados whirling and twirling about.  I need to go to bed because I know tomorrow is going to be 65 degrees and we are going to jump on the trampoline ALL DAY LONG!

Skiing the Bird

Side Note:  I've had a few problems with our .mac account and have decided to use this blog for the time being.

Tim has always dreamed of taking his son skiing.  It has been on his "top 5" list.  We were offered a "friends and family" pass for a ski lesson at Snowbird and jumped at the chance.

Carter spent the day with his ski teacher, wearing a worm on the tip of his skis, eating hot dogs and french fries, and
telling his instructor endless stories about Star Wars.  He did learn how to snow plow and get on and off the chair lift.

Tim skied in the 24 inches of new powder and secretly followed Carter around (luckily he wasn't caught by Carter until the end and they ended up skiing the bunny hill together).

It was so exciting to hear about Carter's experience and that he wasn't a wimp (he has been known to throw a fit about soccer games and swimming lessons).

The girls, myself, and Grandma Jenny spent the afternoon going out to lunch, dying Easter eggs, coloring, painting posters, and other fancy and frilly girl things.  I love good days.
