Atta Girl

As I mentioned earlier, the big kids have been attending running camp twice a week.  They started running a half mile and have built up to 2 miles.

Our annual city celebration "Steel Days" hosted a 5k and a kids run.  My kids begged and pleaded to to the race and I quickly obliged!

I gave a few last minute instructions (i.e. DON'T start out too fast) and told them to have fun!

Sorry...these pictures are in the opposite order!!!

Annie ran an amazing race!!!  She started off smart and finished strong.  So strong that she took 2 place in the girls 7-8 category!  We felt horrible....we left during the awards ceremony not knowing she was going to bring home the hardware!!

Abby ran a great race too!  She was just happy to be there and run with her friend.  All smiles for that girl!

Carter, however, had a hard day.  He started out way too fast and crashed.  Sometimes that is a hard lesson to learn!  We had to have a long talk about good sportmanship.

Does this picture tell three very different stories of the morning?  Regardless, I'm proud of them for going out to run a half mile on a very hot day!
