We recently read the classic novel Where the Red Fern Grows together as a family. Every night before bed, we would read a few pages (sometimes chapters) aloud on the couch. Everyone loved reading the story of Old Dan and Little Ann.
During the last chapter, we wept
as a family as we concluded the story of our two favorite dogs. I'm so grateful for those few weeks we spent together reading the classic novel.
Oh! The torture!! And my kids can't figure out why they can't have a dog. Just wait until we read this book. They think it is because I don't want the mess of feeding, grooming and taking care of dogs but I'm really avoiding the emotional mess I'll be in when the dogs die. I might burst into tears just thinking about Old Dan and Little Ann.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you had this bonding moment as a family. It really is such a sweet classic book!
